Bathroom Design in Houston, TX
A design-first bathroom service that gives you a real floor plan, a 3D render, and a tile-by-tile selection sheet before a single wall comes down. Design fees apply toward your build with Saul's, so you never pay twice for the same project.

Our bathroom design plans the build before it starts
Pinterest boards and Houzz saves are a good starting point, but they leave the hard decisions unmade. Door swings, valve heights, niche placement, grout color, toilet rough-in, transition strips, and vanity lighting all have to be decided in advance or they get decided on the fly during construction. Our bathroom design service locks those details down on paper so the build is smooth, accurate, and on-budget.
A Saul's design package includes a measured floor plan, a dimensioned elevation of every wall, a finish and fixture schedule, and a 3D render you can walk through before demo. Because we are the builder too, every line on the plan reflects what our crews will actually install. For clients who need a full plumbing and structural overhaul, pair design with a bathroom renovation and we waive the standalone design fee.
- Measured floor plan plus dimensioned wall elevations
- Photorealistic 3D renders before a single hammer swings
- Finish schedule with brand, SKU, and quantity for every item
Here are the bathroom design styles we build
Every Houston neighborhood leans a different direction. Our design team knows what will feel right for your block and your resale.
- 01
Modern / Contemporary
Flat-front vanities, matte black hardware, large format porcelain, and linear drains. Strong in new-build neighborhoods like Bridgeland, Cross Creek Ranch, and downtown mid-rise condos.
- 02
Modern Farmhouse
Shaker vanities in white or soft green, apron sinks, bronze or brass fixtures, and shiplap or beadboard accents. Dominant in Cypress, Tomball, Magnolia, and older pockets of The Woodlands.
- 03
Spa / Resort
Freestanding soaking tubs, rain shower heads, natural stone tile, warm wood vanities, and dimmable ambient lighting. The most-requested direction for primary suites in River Oaks, Memorial, and Hunter's Creek.
- 04
Traditional
Raised-panel cabinetry, marble or marble-look tile, polished chrome or polished nickel, and crown-profile trim. The right fit for older Heights bungalows, Bellaire colonials, and West U Tudors.
- 05
Transitional
The most popular choice in Greater Houston right now. Blends modern crispness with traditional warmth. Shaker-adjacent vanity, light quartz counter, satin nickel fixtures, and classic tile patterns in modern color stories.
- 06
Coastal / Clean Lines
Whitewashed woods, sea glass tile, linen textures, and raw brass. Common request in Clear Lake, Seabrook, League City, and Galveston second homes.
We use 3D design to visualize the bathroom before construction
Laser-Measured Site Survey
Your designer walks the room with a laser distance tool, a digital tape, and a moisture meter. Every wall, window, outlet, vent, and supply line goes into a CAD model that mirrors your actual bathroom within 1/8 inch.
2D Floor Plan Options
We share two or three layout options, usually a same-footprint refresh, a borrow-a-closet expansion, and a full re-plan. Each plan lists total square feet, fixture counts, and the key trade-offs so you can make an informed pick.
Photorealistic 3D Render
Once the floor plan is picked, we build the room in 3D with your actual tile, vanity, lighting, and fixtures. Renders are shipped in JPG, PDF, and a browseable web link so you can view from your phone on the way to the tile showroom.
Virtual Reality Walkthrough
Clients who want an immersive preview can load the 3D file into our VR headset at the design studio. Useful for big-budget primary suites where spatial feel matters, especially ceiling heights and shower glass placement.
Finish Schedule & Spec Book
A PDF spec book bundles every item: tile SKUs, grout colors, valve models, paint codes, lighting model numbers, and cabinet door profiles. If you take the plan to a different builder, nothing gets lost in translation.
Why Houston Picks Saul's for Design
Design-Build Under One Roof
Your designer and your builder sit at the same table, so the plan accounts for what our crews will actually install.
Design Fees Credited to Build
If we build the project, every dollar of your design fee comes off the final renovation invoice.
Trade-Account Pricing on Selections
You see contractor pricing at our tile, cabinet, and plumbing showrooms, not retail. That alone often offsets our design fee.

Your designer hands the drawings to your build lead. Selections are ordered, a build calendar is set, and the design fee is credited against the renovation invoice.

Questions homeowners ask about bathroom design
Do I have to build with Saul's to use your design service?
No. You can hire the design team on a standalone basis, walk away with the full spec book, and take it to any builder you like. In that case, the design fee stays as-is. If you do choose Saul's for the build, your entire design fee is credited to the final invoice, which is usually the more economical path.
How long does the bathroom design phase take?
A small bath design wraps in 2 weeks from measure-up to final spec book. A primary bath with multiple layout rounds and selection shopping usually runs 3 to 4 weeks. Timelines stretch if clients want several rounds of revision on 3D renders, which is fine but worth building into the calendar.
Can you design around plumbing I cannot move?
Yes, and we do it often. On slab-on-grade homes where moving a toilet flange is expensive, we design around existing drains while still updating vanity layout, shower footprint, and lighting. Our plumber joins the design walk so any hard limits are flagged before you pay for a render.
What software do you use for the 3D renders?
Our design studio runs Chief Architect for the model and Lumion or Twinmotion for photoreal rendering. Tile, fixture, and cabinet libraries are pulled from manufacturer BIM files so the final render matches the product you actually receive, down to grout color and faucet finish.
Can you help me pick a style I will still love in 10 years?
That is the single most common question we get. Our rule of thumb: keep the expensive, permanent pieces (tile, vanity, fixtures) on the timeless side of the style spectrum, and let the cheap, easy-to-swap pieces (paint, mirror, hardware, towels) carry the trend. Clients who follow that rule rarely want to redo their bathroom in under 15 years.
Do you offer lighting design and electrical planning?
Yes. Bathroom lighting is layered (task, ambient, accent, and decorative) and handled on a dedicated reflected-ceiling plan. We spec vanity sconces at eye height, recessed cans over the shower, dimmers on a separate circuit, and GFCI placement per the 2023 NEC. Your electrician will get the final plan with every box located.
Will you design a small powder room or half-bath?
Absolutely. Small bathrooms are often the easiest places to take a design risk because the finish square footage is small and the impact is big. Statement wallpaper, bold tile, or a one-of-one vintage vanity can transform a powder room without breaking a whole-home budget.
Can you work with a designer I have already hired?
Yes. Many of our builds are drawings-as-bid from outside interior designers. We read their elevation and schedule, flag constructability questions in writing, and build exactly to spec. Our crews have done this with designers from top Houston firms, so the workflow is smooth on both sides.
