We get walls back to brand-new, fast

Drywall damage is almost always two problems at once: the hole or crack itself, and the cause behind it. A leaking shower valve shows up as a brown stain on the bedroom wall. Foundation movement prints hairline cracks at every door header. A doorknob leaves a hole because the stop fell off two years ago. Fixing the drywall without finding the cause means you pay twice.

Our repair lead walks every job first. We identify the source, flag any plumbing or structural concerns, and quote a flat piece rate that includes demo, patching, taping, three mud coats, sanding, texture matching, primer, and one to two paint coats. Most single-room repairs wrap in one visit. Water damage and multi-wall settling cracks get a next-day return trip because mud needs time to dry.

  • Same-week visit for most single-room repairs
  • Texture match for orange peel, knockdown, smooth, and popcorn
  • Shellac-based stain block over every water-damaged patch
  • Floor protection, drop cloths, and broom-clean finish on every visit

We fix these common drywall problems

  • Holes (Doorknob, Furniture, Accident)

From golf-ball sized dings to 24-inch holes from moving day mistakes. Small holes get a California patch; anything over six inches gets a backer strip, cut-in replacement piece, mesh tape, and three mud coats. We install a doorstop on every door with a knob-sized impact to prevent the next one.

  • Water Damage & Brown Stains

Gulf Coast humidity, roof leaks, and pinhole pipe failures leave brown halos on ceilings and walls. We confirm the leak is stopped, cut out any soft or moldy rock, dry the cavity, hang new board, and seal with BIN shellac so the stain cannot bleed through paint. If you see a stain growing, call before the gypsum fails and falls.

  • Settling Cracks at Door Headers & Corners

Houston's clay soil swells in wet weather and shrinks in drought, moving slab edges by half an inch per season. That movement telegraphs as 45-degree cracks at door headers, window corners, and the junction where ceilings meet walls. We use flexible mesh and elastomeric crack-suppression tape so the same crack does not reopen next summer.

  • Nail Pops & Screw Dimples

When wood framing shrinks after a Houston summer, fasteners push the drywall forward in small round bumps. Cosmetic fix is to drive a new screw 1.5 inches above, pull the old nail, and re-mud. We hit the whole wall when more than a handful show up, because it is always the tip of a pattern.

  • Tape Seams Lifting & Bubbling

Cheap paper tape installed by a previous contractor eventually lifts in long straight lines. We score, peel, re-tape with mesh plus setting-type compound, and blend a 12-inch feather on each side so the seam stays invisible even in raking light.

  • Foundation-Related Stair-Step Cracks

Long diagonal cracks that run corner-to-corner or around a doorway can signal a foundation shift, not just cosmetic settling. We flag these during the walk-through and recommend our structural repair service before re-patching, so the crack does not reappear after we leave.

Why Houston Calls Saul's First

  • One-Visit Turnarounds

Most patch-and-texture jobs are done and paint-ready the same afternoon using setting-type compound that dries in 90 minutes.

  • 5-Year Color & Texture Warranty

We sample wall texture and paint sheen, then blend the patch so you cannot spot it from six feet away under normal room light.

  • Five-Year Warranty on Every Patch

If a repair reopens because of our workmanship, we come back and fix it free. Settling cracks on shifting slabs are covered under our return-visit policy.

Here is how our drywall repair process works

Most single-wall repairs take four to eight hours, including primer and paint.

  • 01

    Inspect & Diagnose

We check for leaks, mold, structural shifts, and electrical conflicts before cutting anything. Photos go on your file for five-year warranty tracking.

  • 02

    Cut & Prep

Soft or damaged gypsum comes out to the nearest stud. We square the cut and cleat the back with 1x3 pine so the patch has a firm landing.

  • 03

    Hang, Tape & Mud

New 1/2-inch board screwed to the cleat, mesh tape on seams, and three feathered coats of joint compound with dry time between passes.

  • 04

    Texture Match

We spray orange peel, roll knockdown, or skim smooth depending on the original finish. A practice sheet gets the gun pattern right before the wall touch.

  • 05

    Prime & Paint

Stain-blocking primer on water damage, then wall-color paint applied corner-to-corner or to a natural break so the repair disappears into the existing finish.

  • 06

    Walk-Through & Five-Year Warranty

We photograph the finished wall, hand you a written five-year warranty, and leave the room broom-clean. Any concern within five years gets a free return visit.

Should you schedule drywall repair now?

  • A Stain Is Spreading

If a brown halo is growing week over week, water is still moving inside the wall. Left alone, saturated gypsum sags, pulls away from framing, and eventually collapses, taking insulation and trim with it.

  • Cracks Keep Coming Back

A crack that is patched, painted, and back within 6 months is a symptom, not the disease. Could be foundation movement, framing stress, or improper original taping. Skipping the diagnosis guarantees a repeat.

  • Mold Is Visible at the Edge

Any black, green, or pink speckling on gypsum means mold has colonized the paper face. The patch is no longer cosmetic. We cut, bag, and replace with moisture-resistant rock, then seal seams.

  • You Are Selling or Refinancing

Appraisers and home inspectors flag visible drywall damage and water stains, sometimes knocking appraised value by thousands. A few hundred dollars of repair before listing usually recovers multiples of that at closing.

Questions homeowners ask about drywall repair

  • How fast can you come fix a drywall hole?

Most Houston-area repair calls made before noon on a weekday get a tech on-site within 48 hours. Emergencies involving active water or mold concerns get next-day priority. Larger multi-room repairs are scheduled a week out so we can stage materials and protect your floors.

  • Will the repair be visible after paint?

Not when it's done correctly. We test the existing texture, spray a practice pattern on scrap, tune the gun or roller, and feather the mud coat beyond the patch perimeter. After primer and color-matched paint, you should not be able to find the repair under normal room light. Raking sunlight on smooth walls is the one place we recommend a full-wall skim for total invisibility.

  • What about water damage, will the stain come back?

Not if the leak is found and stopped first. Painting over a wet stain with latex alone will bleed through in 30 to 60 days. We always seal with BIN shellac or an oil-based stain blocker before topcoat. If you are not sure the leak is fixed, we can coordinate with a licensed Houston plumber before repairing the drywall.

  • Are settling cracks always a foundation problem?

Not always. Hairline cracks at door headers and window corners are usually normal seasonal movement in Houston's clay soils and are purely cosmetic. Diagonal cracks wider than 1/8-inch, stair-step cracks, or cracks accompanied by sticking doors do warrant a structural look. We flag those during the walk-through and loop in a structural engineer if needed.

  • Do you paint after repairing?

Yes. Every repair quote includes primer and one to two topcoats of paint that matches your wall color. If you have leftover paint from the original job we use that; otherwise we color-match at Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore using a 1-inch sample we take from a hidden spot. Full-room repainting is quoted under our interior painting service.

  • Can you handle popcorn ceiling repairs?

Yes. Small patches get a spray-can popcorn match. For homes built before 1980 we test for asbestos first because older popcorn formulations can contain it. Many clients choose to scrape the whole ceiling, skim smooth, and repaint as an upgrade rather than patch the popcorn.

  • What if my insurance claim is involved?

We work with Texas-admitted insurance carriers regularly after plumbing leaks, hurricanes, and hail events. We supply before-and-after photos, Xactimate-compatible line items, moisture readings, and signed work orders. If you have a claim number, send it along with your quote request so we can format paperwork to your adjuster's standard.
