One licensed crew handles shower and tub builds

Most Houston shower problems start with a fiberglass insert that flexes, leaks at the pan, and stains over time. We swap those out for tiled walk-in showers, prefab-to-tile conversions, and deep soaking tubs that are built to last. Because our plumbers, tile setters, and glaziers are all in-house, the valve rough-in, the pan slope, the shower glass, and the finished fixtures never trade blame when something needs a tweak.

Tub-to-shower conversions are our most-requested job in Cypress, Spring, and Clear Lake primary baths. Walk-in glass showers with benches and niches lead demand in The Heights and Memorial, and freestanding soaking tubs drive upgrades in The Woodlands. If your project also needs layout changes, roll this into a full bathroom renovation to save on mobilization and permits.

  • Licensed master plumber on every valve and drain rough-in
  • Pre-sloped, fully waterproofed shower pans (no pebble trays)
  • Custom-measured frameless glass built by our in-house glazier

Here are the shower styles we build across Houston

Pick a shower based on how you use the room, not just how the photo looks.

  • 01

    Walk-In Tiled Shower

Our most-built shower. Full tile on floor, walls, and ceiling (if the client wants a steam-ready enclosure), plus a curb you can step over. The gold standard for durability and resale value.

  • 02

    Curbless / Zero-Entry Shower

Floor continues into the shower with no step over. Uses a linear drain and a recessed pan. Best for aging-in-place renovations and modern primary baths where the shower reads as part of the room.

  • 03

    Frameless Glass Enclosure

Half-inch tempered glass, clipped or clamped, with no vertical frames. Makes a small bathroom feel twice as big and lets tile work become the focal point. We fabricate and install in-house.

  • 04

    Tub-to-Shower Conversion

The fastest way to modernize an older Houston bath. We demo the tub, rework the drain, waterproof a new pan, and tile out a walk-in shower inside the original footprint. Usually done in 5 to 8 days.

  • 05

    Prefab Acrylic Shower

Three-piece acrylic or solid-surface wall kits go up in a day and stay on budget. Great for rental properties, secondary bathrooms, and clients who want no grout lines to clean.

  • 06

    Freestanding Soaking Tub Install

Deep acrylic, cast iron, or solid-surface tubs on slab-on-grade or pier-and-beam floors. We block the framing for weight, set the drain per the manufacturer, and finish the surround with tile, wood, or plaster.

We build aging-in-place features into showers and tubs

  • Blocked-In Grab Bars

We fur the shower wall framing with 3/4 inch plywood before the cement board goes up. That lets you add or move a grab bar anywhere in the enclosure without hunting for studs later.

  • Built-In Shower Bench

A tile-clad 16 inch or 18 inch deep bench, pitched 1/4 inch per foot so water runs off. Framed to hold 400 pounds, finished to match the shower walls, and sized for the user.

  • Handheld Shower on Slide Bar

A dedicated handheld on a vertical slide bar lets a seated user reach the full body. We run a separate diverter so the main rainhead or wall head keeps working for the standing user.

  • Zero-Threshold / Curbless Entry

A continuous-slope linear drain replaces the traditional center drain and allows a wheelchair or walker to roll straight in. We recess the framing ahead of time so the finished floor sits flush.

  • Slip-Resistant Tile & Thermostatic Valves

Shower floor tile sized 2 by 2 or smaller for DCOF-rated traction, plus pressure-balancing or thermostatic valves that prevent sudden hot spikes when a toilet flushes elsewhere in the house.

Why Houston Picks Saul's for Showers

  • Licensed Plumbers, Not Handymen

Shower valves, drains, and vent stacks are all rough-in by a Texas-licensed master plumber. Permits pulled, inspections passed.

  • In-House Glass Fabrication

Frameless panels are measured, tempered, and installed by our glazier. No third-party delays and no re-cut fees.

  • Leak-Test Before Tile

We flood-test every shower pan for 24 hours and photograph the dry membrane before tile goes down, so leaks are ruled out by day 7.

Questions homeowners ask about walk-in showers and tubs

  • How long does a tub-to-shower conversion take?

Most tub-to-shower conversions in Houston take 5 to 8 working days. That covers tub demo, drain adjustment, pan build, waterproofing, tile set, grout, glass, and a punch walk. A prefab wall system variant can be done in 3 to 4 days if you do not need custom tile.

  • Will I lose home value by removing my only bathtub?

As long as your home has at least one other tub (a guest bath, a hall bath, a secondary en-suite), converting the primary tub to a walk-in shower usually adds value in the Houston market. If your home has only one bathroom, we generally recommend keeping a tub, or building a tub-shower combo so families with young kids can still bathe children.

  • Can you install a curbless shower on a Houston slab?

Yes, with planning. On slab-on-grade, a curbless build requires cutting the slab to recess the drain pan so the finished tile sits flush with the rest of the bathroom floor. Our concrete crew saw-cuts, re-sets rebar, and pours a new pocket. On pier-and-beam homes, we drop the floor joists in the shower bay to match, which is usually less invasive.

  • What shower valve brands do you install?

We install Delta, Moen, Kohler, Grohe, Hansgrohe, and Brizo out of the box, plus any spec brand you bring us. For long-term reliability we lean toward Delta MultiChoice and Moen M-CORE rough-ins because both give you valve-trim flexibility down the road without opening the wall.

  • Do you handle frameless glass enclosures in-house?

Yes. Our glazier measures each enclosure after tile is set so the glass matches the real out-of-square conditions. Panels are tempered per ANSI Z97.1 and hung on stainless clips with silicone bearing pads. Lead time is typically 5 to 7 business days from measure to install.

  • Can you add a rain shower head to my existing valve?

Sometimes, but most single-handle valves are not rated to feed a rain head and a wall head together. Our plumber will open the wall, check your existing rough-in, and either swap a diverter in or replace the valve with a multi-function model. A true multi-head shower needs 1/2 inch supply lines and a balanced valve.

  • How much weight can a freestanding tub put on my floor?

An acrylic soaking tub weighs 80 to 150 pounds empty and around 600 pounds with water and a bather. A cast iron tub can hit 1,200 pounds filled. On pier-and-beam floors we double up joists and add blocking. On slab-on-grade, the load is already supported. Either way, we reinforce before we set so flex is not an issue.

  • Is my shower pan covered under the 5-year warranty?

Yes. Our 5-year workmanship warranty covers the pan, the tile, the grout, and the waterproofing installation. If water ever escapes the shower envelope because of how we built it, we fix it on our dime. That includes re-tile, drywall repair, and sub-floor replacement if needed.
